Smexy Fab Four Presents: Bound to Me by Jeannette Medina

Blurb

A girl with nothing else to lose.
A life that's brought nothing but pain.
A tattoo that's more than what it seems.

Eighteen-year old Veronica has had enough. Her alcoholic mother has only delivered a slew of abusive step-fathers and life is only getting harder. What was to be a simple tattoo for her birthday brings more than she ever imagined. Liam is a shape-shifting dragon. He lives on her shoulder, watching her, helping her. Having the dragon come to life and teaching her courage becomes a new lifeline for Veronica. But Liam will eventually become a permanent tattoo on her skin - never to take the shape of the protector she became attached to. Will she embrace her life or will a broken heart shatter her soul forever?

Review from Kristin Pittman

On Goodreads
I have only read one other dragon shifter book before, very different than this one, but I loved them both.

Ronnie comes from a broken home, a product of domestic abuse but she doesn't cling to her role as victim. She often deflects the anger of her step-father from her mother. She is a hero in that sense alone.

Liam is a dragon shifter with little experience guarding a ward of this sort. He is a fierce warrior and blood thirsty. I wont say Ronnie tames him, that is not true, but she helps him grow to learn that there is more to even a dragon than blood lust and war.

Their relationship is not easy and both make mistakes, it was quick and passionate but also sweet and affectionate.

Book Spotlight: Sloane Wolf by Margay Leah Justice

Title: Sloane Wolf

Author: Margay Leah Justice

Genre: Paranormal Romance

Publisher: MuseItUpPublishing

Release Date: October 28, 2011

Blurb:
For more than a hundred and fifty years, the gray wolf has failed to roam the hills of Massachusetts, leading to the belief that they are extinct. But with a spattering of sightings across the Berkshires, the legend of the gray wolf comes to fruition. The product of that legend, Micah Sloane will go to great lengths to protect his kind from the threat of outsiders, who seek to exploit the legend for their own interests. One thing he didn’t count on, however, was finding his soul mate in the company of such men.

From the first time she predicted a stranger’s imminent death when she was little more than a child, Shiloh Beck knew she was different. Wishing to cultivate her gift, her parents made the fateful decision to enroll her in a private school for paranormally gifted children. Unbeknownst to them, the school was just a front for a research facility simply called the Institute, whose secret board members weaned gifted children from their families to exploit their gifts. Shiloh has spent the better part of her life trying to escape the Institute and reunite with the family she was told had abandoned her.

From their first meeting, Micah and Shiloh share a connection that goes beyond the normal to bond them in a way that love alone cannot. But before they can build a life together, they must deal with the fall-out when the legend of the wolves collides with the men behind the Institute.

Letter to Shiloh from Micah

Shiloh,
I’m not sure how I should start this. I’m not one for spilling my feelings, even on paper, so I don’t even know if I started it right. Should I have said ‘Dear Shiloh’ instead of just ‘Shiloh’ or is that okay? Does it make it sound like just a note? Is it too informal? I don’t know, I don’t usually do this – any of this. I’m not the heart and posies kind of guy, I don’t make the outlandish gestures to tell my woman how I feel, so this is really awkward for me. So I guess you’re kind of wondering why I’m even doing this, then, huh? Well, Raven told me to. Now before you get all huffy about why I’d let my sister talk me into something like this, just listen – or read, in this case. Raven knows me – sometimes too well – and she knows how I have a hard time expressing things (I know you’re laughing right now, so don’t), so she thought this might help. If I could just write it down, I could figure out the best way to tell you how I feel. So this is it, this is how I feel. About you.
Before I met you, I was just going through the motions of life, but never really living. But I didn’t know that until I met you. When you first came riding into my life in that flashy Hummer, it’s like it kick-started something inside me – something I didn’t even know was lying dormant – and I really began to live. I became aware of you in a way I was never aware of any other person and I didn’t know how to deal with that, especially when all that stuff went down with Haines and Ava. But then, when I thought I lost you, none of it mattered. That night in the woods, trying to find you – it was the worst time of my life and I never want to go through anything like that again.
You are the first breath I take every morning, the lifeblood I need to survive. You are every beat of my heart. Without you, my life would cease to have meaning and I’d be back to just going through the motions like I did before I met you. It was a lonely existence then – it’d be a hellish one now. I know we haven’t known each other very long and it seems impossible that I could feel this strong about you so soon, but there it is. Without you, there is no me so, please, say you’ll stay with me. Say you’ll take a chance and stick around and see where this might take us. I won’t force you but know this, if you decide this is all too much for you – if you decide to go – you’ll be taking the better parts of me with you. No matter where you are or what you do, I will always love you.
                                                                                    Micah

Author Katya Armock

I want to welcome Katya Armock today.
Katya is here to talk about her new book To Hiss or to Kiss

Blurb:
Chloe can “talk” to animals…so why can she hear the thoughts of this hot, green-eyed man?

Abandoned by her mother and raised by a father who’d given up on life, Chloe doesn't let anyone get close. Lucky for her, she can communicate with animals—telepathically. Animals are the only people she needs. When a suspected dog-fighting ring comes to her attention, Chloe decides to do a little spying. In her rush to win the dogs’ trust, she almost gets caught.

Until a sexy stranger intervenes, and she finds she can overhear his thoughts. She’s never been able to hear people, and this man’s about as sexy as she’s ever seen. It’s more than intellectual curiosity that drives her to discover his secret: he’s a jaguar shape-shifter, and the presence of this cat among the dogs might be a bit too much to handle. But the animal attraction is just too hot to resist, and the passion between them makes both the sparks—and the fur—fly…

Here is also an Interview with Chloe and Katya

Katya: I know how much you hate beating around the bush, so I’m just going to dive right in. What makes you unique?
Chloe: [gives me an are-you-stupid look] That’s obvious. I can telepathically communicate with animals.
Katya: OK, I’ll give you that, but what else makes you unique?
Chloe:  I like ice cream.
Katya: You’re not really trying, are you?
Chloe: How can you tell? [rolls her eyes] Look, I just don’t like talking about myself. Can’t we just talk about my cats or something?
Katya: How about something close to that? You spend a lot of time volunteering at an animal shelter. Given your ability, it makes sense, but it must be difficult to deal with all the homeless animals.
Chloe: It is, but I figure I was given this gift for a reason and I need to do what I can to help animals. They don’t have a voice for most people. Plus, animals are way better than people. If I wanted to be harshly judged, I’d tell more people about my ability—or wear a bikini or something.
[We both laugh.]
Katya:  I figure you’ll have a unique take on this one, considering your ability to converse with animals. What animal would you be?
Chloe: A cat. I’ve always been a cat person. [smiles wickedly] Jorge certainly hasn’t changed that. Do you know how hot it is to have man purr against your naked body whether you’re cuddling or fuc…? [blushes]
Katya: I can imagine. Speaking of Jorge, what’s it like to be able to telepathically communicate with a person?
Chloe: At first it freaked me out. I didn’t even know shape-shifters existed, so I thought I could just suddenly hear a random human in my head. It didn’t help that just looking at him sent my libido into overdrive. [blushes again and mutters under her breath] Goddamn, capillaries.
Katya: [tries not to show amusement] Moving on… What is your most prized possession?
Chloe: Is it bad if I call Jorge my possession? It’s not like I’m objectifying him or anything, but he’s the best thing in my life.

Excerpt:
“I’m not going to hurt you.” His whisper tickles my ear, his breath warm against my neck.
The voice sounds familiar, but I can’t place it. I shiver.
“But you aren’t safe here. There are cameras around the house.”
My mind whirls, trying to figure out what to do. My body is still frozen with panic.
His hold on me tightens. “I am going to back us out of here, and then we can talk.” He starts to pull me farther into the shadows behind the barn, and something clicks in my brain. I go limp to make it harder for him to carry me. The man doesn’t even lose a beat taking on more weight. He chuckles softly.
That just makes me mad and I start thrashing my newly unencumbered legs, trying my best to get his shin or twist my foot up higher to his groin, but he quickly grabs my legs with one arm, negating my struggle. He’s now got me almost sideways across his body to keep one hand over my mouth and the other clamped around my thighs like a vise, but I keep writhing—or at least trying to writhe. I kick back from my knees, but my heels just connect with air. Too bad I’m not insanely flexible. To my still panicking mind, it just seems silly to stop at this point, though.
“I’m trying to help you. If you insist on this thrashing I will be forced to immobilize you further so the noise doesn’t alert anyone.”
I wonder how he would do that and imagine this man’s bulk holding me down on the ground. It’s not a wholly unwelcome thought, which is all kinds of fucked up. My hormones seriously need a good talking to. I redouble my writhing, part of me wanting to know if and how he’ll carry out his threat. The rational part of me rolls her eyes.
I wiggle my upper leg free enough that I get a pretty good whap against the outside of his hip, and I hear a soft whumpf of pain from him.
“That’s it.” He drops me to the ground on my back and then repositions himself over me, recovering my mouth with one hand while trapping my legs with his before I can even think about screaming.
When I recover from the shock, I’m in for a new one. My eyes widen as I make contact with emerald green eyes that are startlingly familiar.

Author Bio:
I like books that are funny and fun to read (and hot!) but also make me think or look at the world in a new way. I am influenced by magic realism, comparative mythology, and esoteric spiritual practices from around the world.
I spent too many years chasing someone else’s definition of success. My life simplified, I returned to my first love of writing.
These days you’ll find me writing, pet sitting, juggling a number of freelance gigs, and reigning as my home’s domestic goddess. I live in the Midwestern U.S. with my husband, dog and cats. Alas, I have, as of yet, been unable to teach my husband how to purr.
