Briana has heard his voice for years in dreams. Calling to her. She hears that same voice in the handsome stranger she meets on vacation. Captivating and so familiar. When he unexpectedly transforms into a werewolf, Briana flees in horror. She knows him … he is the wolfman who haunts her dreams. More than anything else, it is her lustful response to the beast that terrifies her.
When Raynor finally meets his mate, he is confused by her reaction and even more so by her response when he shifts. She doesn't recognize him. In an attempt to escape, Briana jumps through the time portal of his people, landing her in Medieval England. Raynor must rescue her, which requires bonding with Briana as her mate. But first he must teach Briana that she is a shifter, then convince her not to be repelled by her other self, an ancient, powerful shifter. A snakewoman.

Excerpt
“Oh,” she groaned aloud. There he was again, the dark mysterious figure that haunted her more nights than she cared to count. This time, they stood facing each other in the middle of a night-black forest; she was already frightened, her breathing frenzied and her heart pounding. She felt like she was caught in the middle of a Twilight Zone episode—death approached, but it was as if she were stuck in quagmire and couldn’t move.
He edged closer, stepped into the moonlit glade between her and the protective foliage that had covered his form. A werewolf! Briana was shocked. Even though she was a strong person, she was too scared to move an inch. She’d expected a menacing stranger, not a fictional monster. He looked real enough, his body bulky with muscles, and she even noticed a musky odor.
Abruptly, the creature jumped in one great predatory leap, landing directly in front of her. His weight crashed a small branch into kindling as he landed. Strangely, she wasn’t frightened, not now. Why? She didn’t know. Her heart thudded heavily against her chest, her breathing came out in short pants, but from another source entirely—she was turned on. Briana found this startling. The appearance of a savage, beast-like wolfman made her hot? It was insane, this sudden switch from terror to lust.
For years, she had been involved in strange encounters with this mystery man, who tonight, had turned out to be a nightmarish creature. But this was turning into the weirdest experience she’d ever had. Once he had made his appearance in wolf/human form, she no longer feared his presence. It was as if there was a connection between them, a hidden knowledge she found puzzling.
“Who are you?”
His answer was a guttural growl, then a pounce onto her body. She fell to the ground, landing uninjured on a soft pile of leaves. For some crazy reason, she knew he did not intend to hurt her. The beast’s body was heavy, his long hair tickling against her exposed skin. She glanced down at her naked body, again surprised; she’d been wearing her nightgown earlier.
Drool dripped onto her chin and she looked up into its beautiful, but eerie golden eyes, strangely unaffected by the savage grin of its fanged mouth. She still wasn’t frightened.

Smexy Fab 4 Presents: Assassins Bite by Mary Hughes Cover Reveal

Assassins Bite
(Biting Love Book 8)

Only her light can burn away his shadows.

On her first night as a police officer, Sunny Ruffles takes down three felons…only to be attacked by a gang of vampires who are a whole new level of hurt.

Then a mysterious shadow man intervenes, saving Sunny before he disappears. She runs after him, telling herself her pursuit has nothing to do with his sharp, stubbled jaw, his powerful shoulders, or his sexy-as-hell, kissable lips.

Rescuing the humans makes Aiden Blackthorne late for a critical meeting with the vampire Nosferatu’s daughter. Yet clompy, bumbling Sunny draws him back like wild honey. He kisses her, and he’s almost got her down to her underwear when a bomb meant for him explodes.

The last thing Aiden wants is to drag Sunny into his hellish conflict with Nosferatu. But Aiden’s a loner whose only friend has mysteriously disappeared, and the woman who smells and tastes like his mate is the only backup he has left. He’ll need her, everything he is, everything he was—and everything he might have been—to defeat his evil master and claim the love he never dared hope to have.

Warning: This book contains shadowy assassins shooping off vampire heads, cops bumbling in at the worst of times, and opposites attracting, colliding, and exploding in lust—a.k.a., explicit fighting, humor, and sex.

Excerpt:

I cleared my throat and widened my stance and thought tough cop thoughts. “What aren’t you telling me? Exactly how do you know Mace and his vampires—?”

“You didn’t see vampires.”

Already irritated with myself, that echoey voice rubbed me into sharp annoyance. I stomped into his personal space, slapped fists to my hips and glared up at him. “Do not tell me what I did or did not see.”

“Not vampires—”

“Shut. Up.”

He reared back with a frown. “You can’t tell me to shut up.”

“Who’s the cop here?” I scowled up.

He scowled down. “Who’s the midget here?”

“Why you…” I grabbed his ears to bring his head to my level and stun him speechless with my cop glare, a cross between Medusa and an ocular fist that I’d seen Elena do and practiced daily in the mirror until I knocked myself out with it.

But somehow when his face got within reach of my mouth I leaned up and he leaned down—and we fused lips. My tongue pried and he opened, and I was plunging as deep as I could get into hot male heaven. He tasted of espresso edged with cinnamon and danger; his scent enveloping me was just as spicy.

He groaned. His arms came around me, pulling me flush to him. I clutched his biceps, warm satin-covered rocks, and moaned into his mouth. As if it was a cue he crushed me to him, his embrace hot as a woodburner and his torso as hard as his biceps. Even through the thick wool of my cop carapace I felt every ridge of him.

I twined arms around his neck and pressed into him in return. I was shivery hot and melding with him instinctively, writhing and rubbing against him with primal need.

My undulating must have been another signal, because he began to take the lead. His tongue thrust powerfully into my mouth. I groaned and a ripple of sheer need ran the length of my body. I opened wider for him; his tongue filled me again and again.

That driving power was how he’d make love. At the thought, my sex drenched.

“Mmm. Your scent drives me wild.” He cupped the back of my head, holding me in position for deeper, more exotic tonguing and biting and licking. I whimpered. His passion was a direct wire from my mouth to my sex—one he lit like a fuse. Every flick of his tongue was a hot lick to my rising clit. Every thrust inside my mouth was a powerful surge into me. Every bite shivered along my skin and every suck was as if he had me on my back with my thighs clenching his head.

He slid a hand between us. It rubbed my uniform jacket against the tips of my breasts. The jacket was new, wool and too small, and I felt it even through shirt and bra. My nipples, already awake, sang out like they were joining the choir eternal.

I gasped, grabbed his ears and tried to tongue his tonsils. My leg lifted, instinctively trying to assume the position. I was small but forceful and usually ended up on top, but he was so tall I couldn’t rub my tortured bits against his unless he helped or I climbed him like a tree. If he would just slip his hands under my derriere and lift…

He had other things in mind. He undid every brass button on my jacket then shoved it aggressively off my shoulders. My arms fell from his neck and the jacket hit the pavement with a whump-clang. I barely cared, because he kept kissing and sucking as he worked at my blouse, flipping open buttons so fast one or two went plink onto the pavement.

The instant the shirt was open, he palmed both breasts through my lacy bra, with a sound like a hungry beast coming home to a hot plentiful dinner. I thrilled. My breasts surged into his hands with nearly the same sound. I dug fingernails into his scalp and rubbed my tits into his palms, his skin so hot, his hands so big and rough and exciting.

I was about to pull him somewhere secluded, like the cruiser’s backseat—some part of me knew Jonesy wasn’t due to wake for at least another five minutes—when an explosion rocked us both.

Short Excerpt:

He shrugged out of
my grasp, twisting his face away and avoiding my eyes. “I’m trouble, Kitten. If
they’re your friends, that’s great. You don’t need me hanging around as well.”
“You’re scared.”
This time his eyes locked onto mine,
narrow and flinty. “What did you say?”
I lifted my chin. “Scared.”
A muscle jumped in his cheek. “Yeah? And
just what am I supposed to be scared of, Kitten?” He took a step toward me.
“You?” The toes of his heavy boots touched mine. I could smell coffee on his
breath, hear his uneven breathing.
“I told you, Dante. I’m not afraid of
you.” I kept my arms by my sides, my hands loose and relaxed. He took a quick
breath and I leapt in. “The idea that someone else has a Talisman. It’s rattled
you.”
The flicker of fear in his eyes told me
everything. Squashing down my own inadequacies, I moved forward and closed the
gap. Before he could demur, I draped my arms around his neck and pressed my
lips against his. It was meant to be a peck, a light touch of comfort. I didn’t
expect it to ignite.
I could
feel everything—the softness of his cool lips, damp with rain; his prickly
stubble against my chin; tight arms that wrapped around me; one hand on the
small of my back, the other closing around the nape of my neck. He growled deep
in his throat and kissed me back, hard. Then his mouth slanted, the kiss went
deeper in a scorching blast I felt down to my knees. My hands moved of their
own accord, burrowing into his hair, pulling his head further down. He tasted
of coffee and something dark and exotic. Dante was delicious.

RBTL Present Chosen for Blood by Tamela Maloney Blog Tour

Title: Chosen for Blood

Author: Tamela Maloney

Genre: Paranormal Romance

Publisher: Self Published

Release Date: Dec 20 2013

Blurb/Synopsis:
Summary
Being a beautiful competitive standout in a male dominant territory would be any feminists dream until it gets you noticed by the wrong man. Robyn Woods survives hair raising predicaments when she turns away from a handsome alpha that has chosen her. She discovers how complicated life can get when the werewolf and her would be mother-in-law take a bite out of all her plans.
Synopsis
Twenty-two year old college star athlete, Robyn Woods, is approached at the campus gym late one night by an obvious admirer but she can’t help but notice he’s not looking at the usual curves most men pay attention to. His eyes are scrolling over her biceps, six pack abs and even the muscles on her legs seem to please him. As if this moment couldn’t get any more awkward than it already has, he then asks her if she is an alpha, beta or omega. “Whatever happened to guys asking you for your number?”
She doesn’t have much time to process the question as she senses the energy in the air beginning to stir. She feels the hair on the back of her neck flare up and she pans around the room. The intentions of her new admirer no longer concern her due to her father’s unexpected visit. The uncomfortable feeling of being on edge is replaced by a very bad feeling in her bones, “What’s happened?” she wonders.
After getting the mother of all bombs dropped on her, she throws herself into her workouts as a way to deal with her mother’s death and the fact that her father and sister have already moved to a new town without her. A monthly membership to a gym is much cheaper than therapy these days.
As the semester comes to an end and the summer begins, she joins them. Robyn realizes that in the two months’ time they’ve lived there, her father not only knows everyone but everyone seems to know him, too well, and the weirdness begins.
His reason for moving them there was for safety concerns, after all her mother’s murderer was never caught. But as Robyn gets to know the area and the people in it she learns her father has moved them to a town where girls are disappearing left and right.
Robyn has always thought her father’s life was routine, boring and mediocre but now she knows not everything is how it seems. And what’s up with her senses? Not only are they on high alert 24/7 but they are empowering her in ways that even she knows is not normal.
The aggressiveness in Robyn finds a competitor to square off with. Her sister’s new boyfriend is not only good looking but he is well preserved with a set of fangs! Robyn feels sucker punched when she finds out that not only does her sister know her boyfriend shouldn’t exist but she’s digging it too!
Aggravated with the secrets that have been kept from her, Robyn is ready to pull up stakes and head back to her hometown for good but another pair of fangs takes a bite out of her plans.
A very powerful alpha werewolf who has put off choosing a mate up until now has taken an interest in her. Robyn’s mentality is put to the real test when she helps unravel the mystery of the girls’ disappearing and comes to the realization that she is no match for the werewolf or her soon to be mother-in-law.
Encouraged by his mother, the alpha male has forced Robyn to be a part of his life, pack life.  When her father finds out she has been bitten by him he does the only thing he can think of to save her and that’s to challenge the alpha for the rights to his own daughter. Eric Elder, a vampire whose power is equal to that in status of the werewolf that has bitten Robyn, shocks everyone with his sudden interest in helping his loyal guardian’s daughter. Robyn questions Eric’s intentions and denies him the trust that is needed to see his plan through. Her father’s brave attempt and Eric’s generosity changes the fate of all their lives and leaves everyone including the vampires and werewolves of the community wondering one thing, “Will she or will she not turn?”

Author Information

Tamela Maloney wasn’t what you would call an army brat growing up but she sure moved around a lot like one.  Although she made friends wherever her family lived she would still get bored.  To keep herself company until the next move she would daydream about imaginary playmates in other worlds filled with plenty of monsters.  Today she’s forty-something and has plenty of friends, “all real!” she’s happy to report.  However, she daydreams more now than ever before.  “There are some people who live in a dream world and there are some who face reality.  I decided to turn one into the other and they mesh well for me!”  She didn’t always have time for writing, she use to sit down at a desk in a small office for a while until she had an epiphany.  At the end of the day she didn’t feel good enough about herself.  “Anybody could do what I did, it wasn’t enough for me.”  So with wanting to make a difference, she found a job that allowed her to do just that.  She now works with children with special needs.  Although it’s not as financially rewarding as her desk job was it is emotionally rewarding.  “It feels good to know that I help make a child’s day easier and more enjoyable.”  So along with being a hobby writer and a Good Samaritan she is also a wife and a mother of two or four if you count the dogs.  She has a long list of loves and likes, but an even longer list of hates.  She admits she’s a creature of habit and doesn’t like her routine fudged with.  Here’s a few that round off the top of all three.  For one, she’s an internet nut but yet electronically challenged.  She hates technology; it’s a flaw of hers that drives her husband batty.  Second, she likes popcorn and peanut butter—not together though.  Last but not least, she loves life, her family, things that make her go “hmm..,” lemon in her water and dachshunds.  “My wiener, Moose, is a werewolf at heart.  He’s my biggest supporter.  My other wiener Libby doesn’t get it.  She doesn’t understand why Moose wants to sit next to me while I bang away on the square black thing with the long cord she can’t chew on.”  You can find her book, Chosen for Blood, on Amazon.  Book two, not yet titled, is in the works.

Excerpt

I scaled back over the pillar and carefully climbed down the waterfall. I started making my way back to the fence when I felt a flare of cold chills go down my arms, legs, and back. I suddenly felt threatened, like I needed to prepare myself. Then the hairs stood up on the back of my neck. This was a stupid idea to have come out here alone and I looked at my bat for reassurance. Since I had it with me I didn’t understand why I felt so vulnerable.
Another round of goose bumps went down my body, this time a wave of extreme danger came over me. Something inside me took over and my body reacted in sync to it. A course of energy flowed through me and I felt like I needed to advance towards the fence as quick as possible. Dad won’t forgive me for this; mom was killed in the woods, I felt so thoughtless and selfish. I was out here because my father told me not to. How juvenile is that? To think I made the comment earlier about how Raylyn shouldn’t be doing things she knows she’s not supposed to. Look at me; I’m twenty-two and doing the same thing.

I was about to step off the last rock when I heard the water splashing. My senses told me that the sound I was hearing was wrong and I instantly knew why. Whatever was splashing in the water was getting closer to me. I couldn’t turn around to see, I needed to watch my footing on the rocks. I went to draw my foot back to maneuver around better so I could use my weight when I jumped up onto the bank, hopefully missing the mud altogether. But the moment I reared my foot back, I don’t know what happened, because the feeling that rushed through me was one I never had before. I no longer felt like danger was approaching me, I felt the danger standing behind me. I could sense the change of energy in the air, it was electrified. I realized my senses were the ones taking over and I trusted them. In one motion I leaped up onto the bank and grabbed a branch to pull myself up the rest of the way. My senses were also telling me that I wasn’t out of danger yet, the threat was still here and I needed to turn around and face it. I was ready to find out what it was they were reacting so strongly to. So I did and it was clear to me that there wasn’t anything dad could have signed me up for that would have prepared me for this. I was definitely in a compromising situation.

My Review:

I enjoyed the book. I have to say there were a few parts I wished the author had elaborated a little.  I personally didn't feel as though this was a romance book. I felt it was more of just a parnanormal book. The book did offer an unique story which I have to say I did enjoy. After the first few pages the story really came together. I think this author has a lot to offer the parnanormal readers

Author Information

Susan Griscom daydreams often. And sometimes her daydreams interfere with her daydreams not to mention real life. Because, let’s face it, her character’s lives are so much more exciting. Sometimes it’s young adult or new adult or just plain old mainstream fiction. Sometimes it’s paranormal romance, where her playing field delves into a different milieu than the usual vampires and werewolves. Some day she might write about fangs and fur, but for now she prefers sticking to strong heroes and heroines confronted with extraordinary forces of nature, powers and abilities beyond the norm, mixed with some steamy romance to get the blood boiling.
Susan lives in the Sierra Foothills in Northern California with her very romantic husband, her small yippy dog, Riley, and her humongous black cat, Saké. Her family consists of his and hers; four wonderful sons and one beautiful daughter, and seven grand angels.
Susan loves when a story takes hold and pulls her into the fantasy, that's magic.

Excerpt

Addie watched particles of dust float within the ray of light coming in through the window as the sun began its slow descent into the horizon. Like most things, cleaning house was not a high priority. Glancing at the kitchen, she considered making some coffee when the faint knock on the door jolted her. Addie didn’t know why it surprised her. She’d been expecting another visit from Darcy or Maia. What she hadn’t expected when she opened the door was Aiden. Aiden was Gerry’s best friend growing up and best man at his and Maia’s wedding a few weeks ago. Aiden had come by a couple of days after Cael’s disappearance to check on her, offering coffee and donuts, but Addie had been rude. Very rude, she remembered. He hadn’t been back since.
She sighed. “Why are you here?” Still rude, she thought, but wasn’t sure she cared.
“Came to see how you are. They say you haven’t left here since the wedding.” His voice dripped with the same thickly coated Scottish accent Gerry possessed.
Addie shot him a dagger-riddled glance. “Yes, I have,” she stated defensively. “I went to …” She hesitated and thought about the place where she’d last seen Cael and cried, begging him to hear her thoughts again and come home. Her voice shaky and raw, she tried to finish the sentence, “…to the spot where …”
“The spot where your boyfriend disappeared,” Aiden finished for her.
She turned away from him, trying desperately to keep the well of tears in check at the memory. “Yeah, and what business is it of yours, anyway?” God, Addie, the man’s only trying to be nice.
“None, I guess.” Aiden rubbed his chin, looked around the living room. She followed his eyes as they swept over the furniture, taking in the chairs and marble-topped coffee table. Then his brilliant blue gaze traveled to the all-too-comfortable deep-red leather sofa where she and Cael enjoyed many pleasant conversations as well as some steamy sexual encounters while taking in the heat from the large rustic fireplace. Aiden meandered his way through the entry, his gaze lingering on the massive window spanning the entire wall, and the breathtaking view of the ocean. His eyes glanced briefly up the stairs before settling back on hers. “This is a nice place you have. I can see why you might want to hole up here and hide for a while.”
“I’m not hiding,” she shot back at him, not meaning to sound so curt. Lowering her voice a tad she added, “I’m … adjusting.”
He nodded. “Aye, I see that you are.” He reached out, took a strand of her hair that hung annoyingly in her face between his thumb and finger, slid them to the end. She flinched at the gentle gesture. “You look thin. When did you eat last?”
“Not that it’s any of your business, I ate …” she had to think about that. When did she last eat? “Um … recently.” Addie frowned, pissed that she couldn’t think of a good reason not to be nice to him. He was only trying to help.
He nodded again. “I, uh … was on my way home from Manny’s grocery store. I saw the smoke from the chimney and thought I’d stop in. I have a couple of steaks in the car. I wouldn’t mind sharing … if you want.”
Her stomach grumbled at the mention of the steaks and she placed her hand over the traitorous organ in an attempt to cover up the rumble. Maybe she was hungry, but having Aiden in for dinner was not going to happen. She was certain to find something in the kitchen to fix. Maybe. There had to be some leftovers from the last time Maia brought her something to eat.
Aiden grinned at her. “Your stomach seems to like the idea of food.”
Something about Aiden tickled her. He always seemed a little shy, but not, if that made any sense. He was full of charm but unpretentious. That was it. He was pretty hot for an older guy too. Okay, he wasn’t that old and he wasn’t as gorgeous as Cael. Addie caught herself comparing the two; well, maybe, but in a different way. Her mind rambled on with the strangest thoughts lately. It must be because she hadn’t been taking very good care of herself.
Aiden swiped his hand through his shoulder-length dark hair similar to the way Cael always did. Addie shook her head. “No. I …” she glanced at the kitchen. “I have dinner. I ... I’m sure of it.” Why was she having such a hard time talking? “I mean, I do. I do have dinner … already.”
“Right,” he said, strolling to the kitchen as if he’d been invited to stay.
“Hey! Where are you going?” Addie trailed behind him.
He stopped at the entrance, glancing around at the empty counter, the empty stove, and the dark oven. He opened the refrigerator and saw the starkness of the cold box. “Yeah. I see you have plenty to eat.”
His sarcasm exhausted her. She leaned against the doorframe, suddenly faint, unable to hold herself up.
Aiden stepped within inches of her, staring into her eyes as he propped his hand along the side of the doorframe very close to her face. She stole a quick glance at his long fingers.
“Look, I’m not blind. I can see you’re hurting. I can see you’re starving yourself. I can see that you’re sick with love and worry. I didn’t come by to upset you, and I’m not going to lie to you. I like you.” When she started to protest, he placed his finger over her lips. “And because I like you, I care about how you are getting along. I don’t expect anything from you.” Her knees grew sapless from standing and they buckled under her as she grabbed onto his arm for support. “Look at you, you can barely stand up, you’re so frail. You need food and …” he sniffed at her hair, “a shower.” She gaped at his audaciousness but resigned herself to hearing him out because she knew, this time, he wasn’t going away. “Now,” he continued, “there are a few events that are going to take place over the next hour. I’m going to go to my truck and get those steaks. Then I’m going to cook them while you go upstairs and take a shower. Then you will come back down here and you will eat. I am not leaving until all those things happen.”

Author Interview with Katie Salidas

I want to welcome Katie Salidas to my blog today.

Katie has been a busy girl promoting her Immortalis Series. It's a series that I think everyone would enjoy. I know that I have.

How do you create your characters? What is your inspiration?

Characters come to me through people watching. I see traits that I like or dislike and embellish them. A character begins to form and take shape. Their personality develops and as they interact with others they become real. After that, it is almost like they take over. I give them the scene and they react to it. I just kind of go with the flow from there. It’s part of being a pantser. I flow with my muse to get from point A to point B in a story.

How many hours in a day do you spend writing?

My work day begins when my kids are in bed. Usually between 8pm and Midnight every night. I have to have a certain kind of quiet to write, so I can’t concentrate when my kids are up and being crazy. Not to mention that family comes first, so I don’t let my writing infringe on their time.

Do you read in your spare time? and if so what is your favorite type of book to read?

I love to read when I get a few free moments. Anything paranormal will do. Romance is good too. I’m a sucker for a happily ever after. Especially one that happens between supernatural creatures.

Blurb/Synopsis:
A gathering storm of violence is on the horizon. Whispered threats of the Acta Sanctorum’s return have the supernatural world abuzz. Only recently aware of the other world hidden behind our own, Kitara Vanders has barely scratched the surface of what being supernatural truly means. A special woman in her own right, she possesses unique telepathic abilities, gifts that have recently come under the scrutiny of the Acta Sanctorum, a fanatical organization whose mission is to cleanse the world of anything supernatural. Targeted, and marked for death, Kitara’s only hope lies with the lethally seductive yet emotionally scarred warrior, Nicholas.
Knowing full well the atrocities the Acta Sanctorum is capable of, Nicholas is all too eager for the battle to begin. Fueled by pain and rage from the loss of his mate, he’s itching for a fight, but one thing stands in his way, Kitara: a beautiful dark-haired woman with unique psychic abilities and an unusual link to the Saints. Despite his resolve to remain focused on his mission, a purely physical relationship binds them together in a way neither of them expected. And when her life hangs in the balance, Nicholas finds his own is teetering on the edge too.

And there it was, the recognition. Her wide eyes locked on to his fangs. “It is true,” she whispered. Her pulse accelerated so much this time he thought she might faint. She clutched at her neck and took an unsteady step backwards.
“I’m not going to hurt you,” Nicholas said in as reassuring a voice as he could manage, given his level of annoyance.
Her wide eyes met his again for a brief moment before she turned away.
Great. She has no clue what the Saints actually do, but she’d been told all about the bloodthirsty vampires. Revealing his fangs might not have been the smartest idea on his part. Too late to do anything about that now. “I’m sure Jeremy filled your head with all kinds of crap about my kind. If I wanted you dead, you would be. Quit acting like I’m some kind of monster.”
“I… just… sorry.” Her eyes flashed to his face again. “May I?”
What an odd request. No one had ever asked to touch his teeth before.
“I wouldn’t get too close. I bite.” He teased with a quick snap of his teeth.
“Is that what happened to the guy in the bar?”
“Don’t ask questions you don’t want the answer to.”
She lifted her hand and gently touched the corner of his mouth. This small act seemed so intimate, so wrong. Nicholas was not sure he appreciated the confused emotions it stirred within him and jerked his head just out of her reach.
“Do they retract?”
What a stupid question. “Why would they?”
“In the stories…”
“I’m not some fictional character, sweetheart. My teeth don’t magically move around in my jaw. And I don’t sparkle either.”
“Do you… drink blood?”
“You already know these answers. Why do you pretend not to?”
“I don’t know everything.” That, he knew, was the truth. She had a lot to learn about the supernatural world. But he wasn’t the one to teach her. He had neither the time nor the desire
