Taste of Summer: Lemonade Graham Cracker Pie

Lemonade Graham Cracker Pie

There is something about summer to me that screams sweet and tangy. Not sure where it came from or why and honestly I don't question I just know that when it turns May I start thinking of sweet and tangy deserts.
For Spring and Summer one of my favorite deserts is Lemonade Pie.  This desert is quick and easy and trust me very mouth watering.
These are the ingredients you will need"
2 - graham cracker pie crusts
3 - 14 oz eagle brand sweetened condensed milk
1-  12 oz Minute Maid lemonade frozen
1 - 16 oz Kraft Cool Whip
It is best if you let your frozen lemonade de-thaw before starting. Once that takes place, get out your large mixing bowl.  In your bowl combine the now liquid lemonade, with the 3 cans of condensed milk, and the whole tub of cool whip. Mix all of it together till smooth
When all the lumps are out and the cool whip is blending well stop mixing and you may begin to pour the mixture into the graham cracker crusts and refrigerate for 3 hours or at least overnight.

If there is left over you can always take a cupcake pan, line it with cupcake liners, place one vanilla wafer at the bottom and our in your mixture.

For Best Results let the pie sit in the refrigerator overnight.

Excerpt

"The taxicab weathered its way through a thick storm down the country road. Raindrops the size of quarters fell onto the windows as Hunter peered out the passenger side lost in a daze of melancholy. The rhythmic splashes created natural harmonic sounds—their father would say it was Mother Nature’s way of creating natural musical harmony. Lightning streaked through the dark pale sky, briefly illuminating the overcast roadway, the thunder making Elly jump slightly. She never did like storms…
The ominous weather was fitting for the siblings’ current mood. Despite its treachery for the cabdriver, who tried his best to safely navigate through the intense rain and howling winds. Hunter and Elly welcomed the raging storm; if anything, it was a small distraction from the current dark reality that summed up their lives.
“Well,” the cabdriver spoke once again, trying to break the awkward silence, “not sure where it is you two are going. These directions they gave me sure aren’t taking us down the beaten path. I don’t think there’s a paved road for miles down this way.”
Hunter didn’t reply to the friendly gesture. Elly also ignored him, quietly humming an old tune her mother used to sing her to sleep, making it apparent she wasn’t interested in any type of conversation with the strange man. It had been a long drive already, and the only thing keeping the cabdriver awake was his trusty coffee mug filled to the brim with the bitterest coffee imaginable."

My review:

This book is  a first in a series. It follows orphaned siblings to their new residents. Which just happens to be creepy. Through this Hunter and Elly are angry and still grieving over their loss.  As much as they are hurt by the events in their life they are not prepared for what lies inside of the their new guardians house.

It is a place where adventures could happen and do happen when Hunter hears something at night.

My take is that it is a good read. There were times when I thought something more needed to be added but that was just my opinion.

Reading a book meant for kids took me back to when I was a kid and the books that I really enjoyed. This is a story that I can see all kids wanting to read because it has the story line of friendship, and the bonds of that friendship

I am actually looking forward to reading the next book

Book Spotlight: Sloane Wolf by Margay Leah Justice

Title: Sloane Wolf

Author: Margay Leah Justice

Genre: Paranormal Romance

Publisher: MuseItUpPublishing

Release Date: October 28, 2011

Blurb:
For more than a hundred and fifty years, the gray wolf has failed to roam the hills of Massachusetts, leading to the belief that they are extinct. But with a spattering of sightings across the Berkshires, the legend of the gray wolf comes to fruition. The product of that legend, Micah Sloane will go to great lengths to protect his kind from the threat of outsiders, who seek to exploit the legend for their own interests. One thing he didn’t count on, however, was finding his soul mate in the company of such men.

From the first time she predicted a stranger’s imminent death when she was little more than a child, Shiloh Beck knew she was different. Wishing to cultivate her gift, her parents made the fateful decision to enroll her in a private school for paranormally gifted children. Unbeknownst to them, the school was just a front for a research facility simply called the Institute, whose secret board members weaned gifted children from their families to exploit their gifts. Shiloh has spent the better part of her life trying to escape the Institute and reunite with the family she was told had abandoned her.

From their first meeting, Micah and Shiloh share a connection that goes beyond the normal to bond them in a way that love alone cannot. But before they can build a life together, they must deal with the fall-out when the legend of the wolves collides with the men behind the Institute.

Letter to Shiloh from Micah

Shiloh,
I’m not sure how I should start this. I’m not one for spilling my feelings, even on paper, so I don’t even know if I started it right. Should I have said ‘Dear Shiloh’ instead of just ‘Shiloh’ or is that okay? Does it make it sound like just a note? Is it too informal? I don’t know, I don’t usually do this – any of this. I’m not the heart and posies kind of guy, I don’t make the outlandish gestures to tell my woman how I feel, so this is really awkward for me. So I guess you’re kind of wondering why I’m even doing this, then, huh? Well, Raven told me to. Now before you get all huffy about why I’d let my sister talk me into something like this, just listen – or read, in this case. Raven knows me – sometimes too well – and she knows how I have a hard time expressing things (I know you’re laughing right now, so don’t), so she thought this might help. If I could just write it down, I could figure out the best way to tell you how I feel. So this is it, this is how I feel. About you.
Before I met you, I was just going through the motions of life, but never really living. But I didn’t know that until I met you. When you first came riding into my life in that flashy Hummer, it’s like it kick-started something inside me – something I didn’t even know was lying dormant – and I really began to live. I became aware of you in a way I was never aware of any other person and I didn’t know how to deal with that, especially when all that stuff went down with Haines and Ava. But then, when I thought I lost you, none of it mattered. That night in the woods, trying to find you – it was the worst time of my life and I never want to go through anything like that again.
You are the first breath I take every morning, the lifeblood I need to survive. You are every beat of my heart. Without you, my life would cease to have meaning and I’d be back to just going through the motions like I did before I met you. It was a lonely existence then – it’d be a hellish one now. I know we haven’t known each other very long and it seems impossible that I could feel this strong about you so soon, but there it is. Without you, there is no me so, please, say you’ll stay with me. Say you’ll take a chance and stick around and see where this might take us. I won’t force you but know this, if you decide this is all too much for you – if you decide to go – you’ll be taking the better parts of me with you. No matter where you are or what you do, I will always love you.
                                                                                    Micah

All Author Blog Blitz for Self Published Authors

This month I am joining  Self-published-and-indie-authors-support-group on Goodreads and doing an all author blog blitz. Throughout today about 80 or so bloggers will be posting about each other to help spread the word about self published authors. You can find the authors  here

Today on my blog I have the Abha C, here today who wrote the wonderful story The Little Ant

You can find her book on Goodread here

Join me while I chat with Little Ant from The little Ant

What is the name of the book where we'll find you? Can you tell us a little about it?

I am a little girl ant and I am kind of a big deal so the book had to be called “The Little Ant!” The book is all about my adventure in the park, it was my first time going there and I really had a great time. There was a surprise for me at the park but you will just have to see for yourself.

Tell us a little about yourself. Where do you fit into the story? What should we know about you?

The book is all about me, you see there would be no story if the author didn't follow me to see how I did in the park. I like new experiences but sometimes I don’t wait to find out what happens.

What do you think of the author? Be honest. We won't tell.

Abha is alright but sometimes she should really think before sending me all alone to the park. I am a young ant after all. Children should always be accompanied by adults. I will cut her some slack because she was following me but I didn’t know that until I saw this story. No fair Abha!

How do you feel about the story you're in?

It is a happy story although I didn’t sign up for my adventure! The park is spectacular with large fountains and gorgeous flowers. I bet you the children that this story is read to will learn a few new words by just following the story along.

Do you like being a character in the book?

I guess I don’t know any different but wouldn't it be fun if I came into your world?

How do you see your future? Without giving anything away about the story, naturally.

You know, I want to go to many new places particularly visit a lot of children in their home through this book and make a lot of new friends. I definitely see some of that in my future. I sure hope I didn’t give away the story, Abha would probably not like that!

What do you know about your author's plans? Can we expect to see you in any future stories?
I am trying to convince Abha to visit a few different places but she hasn't committed to anything yet. If I succeed then you will definitely see me, after all who could say no to me?

Let's say they make a movie about this book. Who do you want to play you, and why?

Abigail Breslin would be perfect. She always plays a quirky but lovable character just like me! I am of course more lovable and less quirky than her characters!

* * *

Brief Author's Bio:

The author’s simple belief is that every child deserves to be read to. To that end she started to look for books that not only were interesting for her one-year-old but also had a learning component to them. This proved to be an impossible task and led to the creation of this book.

Abha C is a freelance writer who specializes in children’s books. She now resides in Fremont, Calif. with her husband and newborn daughter. Her daughter was the inspiration for “The Little Ant”
